How It All Started

In 1918 Earl Q. Gray of Ardmore, Oklahoma established the Gray Ranch Company/Pennington Creek Oklahoma Hunting Ranch in Mill Creek, Oklahoma.

Earl Q. Gray recognized the grazing potential of this limestone area of Johnston County which was further enhanced by its proximity to the headwaters of the spring-fed stream, Pennington Creek, that runs for several miles through our 9,400-acre property. Its ownership gave him what he regarded as the best year-round grazing and Hunting Ranch in the state of Oklahoma. Under the Walking G and Q Bar brands, Earl Q. Gray ran cattle here until his death in 1979.

A Family Operation

The Hunting Ranch in Oklahoma continued to operate as a family enterprise until 1993, at which time it passed into the hands of Keith R. Gray, the grandson.

Like his father and grandfather, the third generation owner came to the Gray Ranch with a background, knowledge, and experience in the cattle industry. Since that time the Gray Ranch Company has expanded into the Murray and Carter counties and the operation has been devoted to yearlings on grass combined with a herd of Black and Black Baldy cows. The Hunting Ranch office is maintained in Ardmore, Oklahoma, while the original site, near Mill Creek, continues as Gray Ranch headquarters.

The Making of the Hunting Club

There has always been a hunting presence on the Gray Ranch due to the unparalleled abundance of wildlife running across the rolling hills and creek beds of the property.  In 2006, Keith R. Gray decided he wanted to take a more active role in offering this hunting paradise to willing patrons beyond just leasing out certain areas as hunting property.  After giving the situation a lot of heart-felt thought and consideration, Pennington Creek Hunting Club was formed as an entity in mid-2006.  The Hunting Lodge was remodeled and uniquely designed to handle a group of hunters. The two-man tower blinds were built and strategically placed. Deer corn and protein supplement feed was ordered and began to be placed in the feeders year round. Food plots were planned, designed, and planted. We had plans of what Pennington Creek Hunting Club could one day be, but we never dreamed that it would become the Hunter’s Destination that it is today.  We are so very proud to offer you the opportunity to step onto our Oklahoma Ranch and enjoy the beauty, abundant wildlife, and magnificence that is Pennington Creek Hunting Club.  Call today and book your Trophy Oklahoma Whitetail Hunt, Rio Grande Spring Turkey Hunt, or a one-of-a-kind Southern Oklahoma Wild Hog Hunt.  We can’t wait to see you!
